Horns of the Dilemma

Life is full of choices. At each phase in life, we choose upon a decision and move ahead. The decisions we make today are responsible for shaping the choices that will be offered to us in the future. So is it really we ourselves who are responsible for the choice and the subsequent consequences we face?

Some people blame it on fate while others take responsibility for them. But what happens when life gives you two choices which seem to be equally appealing. At this point, rational thinking may not help. Then what is it that leads you to grabbing onto any one of the choices?

Such a situation is never a cakewalk. Even if you land up with a stern decision, you may be sacrificing a lot by dropping the other choice. We do face such horns of the dilemma during several phases in our life. The dilemmas may be in the form of choosing what studies to take up, what career path to follow, who will remain our friends, whom do we actually love and sometimes your children may make you choose among them.

There is never a solution to such horns of the dilemma. All you can do is leave it in the hands of your fate. And if you're brave enough, take up the responsibility of shedding the choice (or rather the person) while holding on to the others.

Tornado of Emotions

First days are always very special, be it the school, college or the workplace. Though it wasn't the very first time for me at a workplace, but at least the first one in a "new" workplace.

The first day indeed brought about a tornado of emotions. The feeling of being totally clueless in a new place was visible on each of the trainees' faces. It was a bitter sweet emotion for all of us. Bitter, because we now have to leave behind our carefree college lives and step into the shoes of a responsible employee. On the other hand, sweet, because from now on we'll be independent and professional.

As the day went by the tornado seemed to rise even more. Within the first 2 hours we were told about the rules and regulations, the work and the duties. Somewhere down the line the feeling of being bounded by the rules and working for such extended hours bothered all of us that day. But here we are today, sitting at our desks, concentrating hard on our tasks and fighting against our " tornado of emotions".

Hope we sustain for a longer time and come out of the "give-up phase" successfully.
